Nadine Yura - Calligraphy of Color

I found the reference photo for this painting while cleaning/organizing my studio the other day. The photo was taken from inside our truck on a stormy December morning while my husband and I were in Florida. I was struck not only by their size but how dark and moody these giant palms looked against the ominous sky. I have included the reference photo below so you can get a sense of the atmosphere that day.

On a side note, I listen to music while I paint. The background music for this painting was The Moody Blues of course. "Days of Futures Past" to be exact. Please enjoy "A Break in the Clouds" 8" x 10" Oil on Panel.
