Island LIfe

My husband and I took an early morning drive to Long Beach Island recently so I could take some reference photos for paintings I wanted to do of "life on the Island". LBI is a barrier island nearby where people who vacation there can walk or ride bicycles to the beach. As we drove along the main drag, the Boulevard,  I was able to capture the migrating beach goers with their gear in tow (beach umbrellas, chairs, coolers, etc). These two ladies and their matching backpack-style beach chairs caught my eye. Love the patterns and colors! I've included my reference photos so you can see how much I cropped the image. Please enjoy "Beach Bound" 6"x 6" Oil on Panel .

Produce Surprise

While unpacking the bags from a recent trip to the grocery store I was surprised by a perfectly packaged bunch of Asparagus that were not mine!  I figured that they belonged to the lady behind me in line and that they somehow ended up with my groceries. I know people rave about them but I do not care for asparagus.  Well, since I did pay for them (I  checked the receipt) and I am never one to let produce go to waste  (and not wanting to drive all the way back to the grocery store to return them), I thought that they would make for an interesting painting. Please enjoy my "Blue Plate Special" 6" x 6" Oil on Panel.
